Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitor (ECAM), the Airbus version of an Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System, is a system on Airbus aircraft for monitoring and displaying engine and aircraft system information to the pilots. ECAM serves as the main information hub for the aircraft, providing real-time data on engine performance, aircraft configuration, and alerts that are vital for maintaining safe and efficient operations.

Utilised on numerous Airbus aircraft and a few others, ECAM continuously scans the aircraft's functions and relays them to the crew. Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitor (ECAM) is defined as a system on Airbus aircraft for monitoring and displaying engine and aircraft system information to the pilots.

ECAM stands for Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring. It is the Airbus version of an Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) used by Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, Saab, COMAC, Xi'an and Dornier. ECAM monitors and displays information on aircraft systems, providing alerts and procedures for handling malfunctions or abnormalities.

ECAM consists of two controllable monitors: the Engine and Warning Display (Upper ECAM) and the Systems Display (Lower ECAM). Upper ECAM shows primary engine indications, fuel quantity, flap and slat position, warning and caution alerts or memos. Lower ECAM displays synoptic diagrams of aircraft systems, status messages and permanent flight data. ECAM uses color coding to indicate master warning with continuous chime sound for red messages that demand immediate action, master caution with chime sound 1 for orange messages requiring crew awareness and appropriate action, and advisory messages for lesser defects.

ECAM indicates actions required by the crew in normal, abnormal and emergency situations. It provides step by step remedial actions, checklists and real time data on engine performance and aircraft configuration. Operating modes like T/O Inhibit and LDG Inhibit suppress nuisance alerts during pivotal flight phases. "Stop ECAM" is announced before checking that a system or computer reset will be performed, and the ECAM maintenance panel is used for testing and annunciating faults.

By delivering information to pilots and engineers about aircraft systems, alerts and operational protocols, ECAM reduces pilot workload and enhances safety on every Airbus flight.
