The Tecnam Astore is an Italian light sport aircraft, designed with modern avionics, fuel efficiency and comfort for both training and recreational flying. It is a low wing, two-place, single-engine airplane equipped with tricycle landing gear. With its effused design, the TECNAM Astore is the highly desirable entry point to light sport ownership. The all metal airframe structure is complemented by the selective use of an epoxy reinforced matrix of carbon/glass fiber for the upper radome and fairings. The canopy forms an integral part of the upper radome sliding forward and aft. The cabin offers newly designed seats and seat rails which are easily operated and adjustable fore and aft via a single handle. A roomy baggage compartment accommodates voluminous items with both external and internal access. A newly designed and wide cockpit panel provides the largest choice of avionics on offer with a comfortable armrest and USB charger rounding out the luxurious interior. The avionics package always includes an iPad Mini with a built-in application called "Tecnam Astore Owner app" containing useful information.
The Astore has a total length of 22.97 ft and an overall height of 7.55 ft, with its wings spanning a total of 28.38 ft. The Astore's wing is cantilevered and has a high aspect ratio for its size to allow for better performance and also features full flaps for better landing and takeoff operations. Its airframe is constructed entirely of aluminum. Standard empty weight is 809 lb and it has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,320 lb. The plane can be powered by either a 98 horsepower naturally aspirated Rotax 912ULS2 four-cylinder engine or a more robust 115 horsepower Rotax 914UL2 turbocharged version. The injected Rotax 912iS2 is also available.
The standard propeller is a two blade fixed pitch wooden-composite wrapped Sensenich, with composite made propellers from the same brand also available in two and three bladed versions. The propellers are constructed of wooden composite and are installed with a fixed angle, though that angle can be manually adjusted on the ground. The Astore can fly up to a maximum cruise ceiling of 15,000 ft. The plane can also be pushed to a top cruising speed of 120 knots, though the aircraft is structurally limited to a top speed of 150 knots. With its 29 US gal of fuel aboard the aircraft, the Astore can cruise a maximum of 750 nautical miles.
Tecnam offers the Astore with a number of available standard configurations, and also features almost 60 different options that can be added on. The standard price of the two-place Astore is $147,000 for a ready-to-fly aircraft with analog flight instruments, but with an iPad mini on the panel and electronic engine instruments. A turbocharged Rotax 914UL2 engine option, as flown, costs $24,900, which includes the ground-adjustable Sensenich three-blade propeller.

What is the Tecnam Astore?

The Tecnam Astore is a low wing, two-seat, single-engine airplane equipped with tricycle landing gear. It is a light sport aircraft that had a limited production run by Tecnam. Astore’s maiden flight was on 27 May 2013 at Capua. The Rotax engines suitable for the Astore are compliant with ASTM F2339-06. Astore GT is a re-released version of Astore. Astore GT has a newer engine - Rotax 916iS - with 160 horsepower. Astore GT’s load is about 720 kilograms (1,587 pounds). The base price is $147000.
Astore’s performance is competitive within the light sport plane category. Astore handling is sporty. Astore craftsmanship distinguishes it. Astore avionics include instrument flight rules with satellite-based accuracy GPS and an ADSB in-out transponder. The display is Garmin's TXi screen, and the cockpit is a group of screens called GI275 by Garmin. All the control surfaces, except for the flaps and trim tab, are balanced, and all the surfaces, except for the rudder and fuselage aileron line, are controlled via push-pull rods.
